A scientific visit to the grain storage silo in the industrial zone of Kom Abu Rady, affiliated with the Egyptian Holding Company for Silos and Storage - in Al- Wasta - Beni Suef - for second-year students, in the technology program

Prof. Dr. Ahmed El Sayed - Vice Dean for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, Dr. Mohamed El Sayed Abdel Barr, Coordinator of Special and Distinguished Programs at the Faculty.
Today, Sunday 04/05/2025, the Industrial Electronics and Control Technology Program, at the Faculty of Technology and Education, Beni Suef University, organized a scientific visit to the grain storage silo in the industrial zone of Kom Abu Rady, affiliated with the Egyptian Holding Company for Silos and Storage - in Al- Wasta  - Beni Suef - for second-year students of the technology program. This is under the supervision of Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Barr, Dr. Abdel-Salam Shaaban, Dr. Abdel-Gawad Abdel-Rabbo, and Eng. Mohamed Farid.
The visit aimed to link the practical and theoretical aspects taught in the subjects of Industrial Control Elements, Conventional Control, and Electrical Installations for the second year with practical application in industry. The visit included an introduction to industrial control systems in grain packaging lines, industrial control elements and PLC units, methods of controlling the speed of electric motors, conveyor belts, and pneumatic control systems for opening and closing valves.
During this visit, the students learned about all the details and components of the silo unit, starting from the entry of wheat into the silo, through the purification processes and the sensors used to control and measure the speed of the conveyors, and controlling the temperature and humidity inside the silo. This was accompanied by Eng. Ashraf Abdel Muttalib - Director of Kom Abu Rady Silo, Dr. Taha Anani - Director of Electrical Maintenance and Control at the Silo. They provided a detailed explanation of the stages of grain storage, the components and elements of industrial control within the silo, and methods for protecting and controlling motor speeds and electrical control panels. The students also learned about the SCADA control system used to monitor and control the operation of the silo.
The University and College Administration extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to Major General Engineer Ashraf Sadek Ghazy, Chairman of the Holding Company for Silos and Storage, for providing the College students with the opportunity to closely learn about modern technology in the field of industry and grain storage, through this visit, and to both Eng. Ashraf Abdel Mutalib and Dr. Taha Anani for the information and practical explanations they provided to the students.
