18 Dec 2024

Within the framework of the continuous interest in enhancing the scientific and practical experiences of students of the mechanical departments at the Faculty of Technology and Education - Beni Suef University, and under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister, Prof. Dr. Mansour Hassan - President of the University, Prof. Dr. Atef Fadl - Dean of the Faculty, and Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Sayed - Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs, the Faculty of Technology and Education - Beni Suef University organized today - Wednesday 18-12-2024 - a scientific trip to the "Egyptian German (EGIC) for Sanitary Pipes" factory in the industrial zone for light industries in Beni Suef, in order to learn about the industrial processes and modern technologies used by the factory in the field of manufacturing metal connections, flexible connections and sanitary pipes. The trip was carried out under the direct supervision of Prof. Dr. Ahmed El-Sayed - Vice Dean of the Faculty for Community Service and Environmental Development Affairs.
At the beginning, the students were warmly received by the factory management. A presentation was given about the factory’s origins and departments, the products that the factory produces, product quality control methods, and occupational health and safety procedures followed in the factory.
After that, an inspection tour was conducted on all the factory departments - accompanied by Eng. Ayman Salouma, Eng. Ahmed Zaghloul - through which the advanced technology used in the manufacture of metal connections, flexible connections and sanitary pipes was identified, starting from melting and casting copper using the continuous casting method to obtain solid and hollow copper rods, then cutting them to the required sizes, then hot hammering them, through the blacksmithing process in closed dies, to obtain the initial shape of the product, after that the product moves to the final finishing processes through operation on digital control machines equipped with robots, then the metal coating process for the products, and ending with the product assembly stage.
In addition, a detailed explanation was provided to the students about the mechanism of operation of advanced machines and equipment that contribute to increasing productivity and raising the efficiency of the factory, which provided the students with a unique opportunity to benefit from practical experiences that are in line with their academic specializations.
At the end of the visit, Dr. Ahmed El-Sayed and the students expressed their appreciation to the management of the Egyptian German Factory (EGIC) for the manufacture of sanitary pipes, for the warm reception and comprehensive explanation, stressing their great benefit from this unique trip. The factory management team also expressed their happiness with the students’ interaction with such trips, which are a wonderful model of cooperation between academic and industrial institutions, and emphasize the importance of continuous communication with the industrial sector to provide students with the knowledge and skills that qualify them for the labor market.
